Salim Katana
Salim lives with both his parents who are casual laborers at a sisal plantation. The little money they get is not enough to cater to the needs of the family and thus they would often depend on relatives for handouts to help offset some needs. Salim is kind and humble and enjoys reading.

Basic Needs
While students await their KCSE (Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education) exam results, they can stay on at Mully Children's Family and serve in departments like education, medical, domestic, and farm production. This experience helps to build skills that the student can use in life, on college applications, or towards a job; depending on the path they choose to follow. Support helps to provide for their basic needs during their gap year.
